What Inspired Pink Dreams Cottage

Turning a $10,000 abandoned house into a luxury pink Airbnb is a pretty crazy dream and you might be wondering where this idea came from!

This project was inspired by a combination of experiences, including staying in many unique Airbnbs and visiting a pink Cafe in Florida. Let me tell you more!

It all started with my love for traveling and staying in unique Airbnbs all over the world. There’s something so special about staying in a one of a kind accommodation where every single detail is hand picked. A cookie cutter, chain hotel could never compare to the character and charm of an Airbnb.

If you were to ask me about a hotel that I stayed at 5 years ago, I likely would not remember very much about it. However, if you were to ask me about an Airbnb that I stayed at 5 years ago I could recall every little detail. It’s so much more than just a place to sleep at night, it’s an experience.

To name a few of my Airbnb experiences, I’ve stayed in a Tiki Hut in Costa Rica, a cave in Turkey, a farm stay bed and breakfast in Iceland, a yurt in Alaska, and on a sailboat in Miami.

I’ve had nothing but amazing experiences staying in these unique accommodations and I always thought it would be cool to have one of my own one day! This idea floated around in the back of my mind but I didn’t actively pursue it at that time.

In 2021, I was living in south Florida and visited a cafe named Rose Cafe, located on the outskirts of Miami, Florida. It’s famous for its pink decor and delicious food. My friend and I visited for brunch and this is the moment everything changed. As we were taking photos with the pink telephone booth,  covered in roses, and eating our yummy desserts, a lightbulb went off in my mind. I thought “A pink Airbnb, that’s it”!!!! With no thought whatsoever, I excitedly spoke this thought out loud and spent the next hour dreaming up a little pink house that didn’t exist.

At that time I had more questions than I did answers. Where? How? When?

Fast forward about 4 months and an opportunity came that I couldn’t pass up! Stayed tuned, that’s a story for another time!
